Too much chatter

Sometime the chat gets overflowed and i mess direct messages and have to resort to typing out of game. Is there a way to make it more noticeable, like a notification, or mute some servers, etc?

It's a positive community thing to be honest and we don't have huge player numbers to make the chat really hard to follow imho. If you was on servers with 20+ players without poly-chat the outcome would be the same.

Any thoughts on how it would work? would you want to be able to mute discord chat and/or other servers? we'd still want to be able to chat to players from a staff perspective etc.

i'll look at things like tabbychat to see if it's still viable.

Tried tabbychat2 doesnt appear to load properly (multimc sees it as a mod but doesnt do anything ingame). Would see this approach as best likely outcome for you, i.e. find a client side mod that lets you filer based on chat prefix. I'll try tabby again when i get a chance.

Another mod that used to work well for chat filter was: https://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/mapping-and-modding-java-edition/minecraft-mods/1275039-macro-keybind-mod. Not sure if/how well it works in a modpack.

I left it as is becuase i found out the you can get an auditory ping if someone '@' your ign on chat

Darkey121 Kasta @anoldshoe I'm in talks with John and we're trying to find a potential solution. It will probably involve rewriting Polychat from scratch which will take some time, so don't expect anything quickly. If I agree details with John, the goal would be to deploy by September.

Tbf, it’s getting distracting if we have a lot of players online on different servers chatting frequently. If there is a way to filter it, I’m down to do so sometimes.

Heres a great option for our 1.7 packs via something called 'TabbyChat'.

All of the tabs apart from * were auto generated and you have the option of enabling/disabling notification (notice the red notification for ME). It automatically separates based on the [] prefixes we have here. Including server events such as 'shutting down in 5 mins' etc.
