The lag spikes lately on GT seem to be coming from world gen, mostly mid game players exploring space/end/etc, so there's not a whole lot we can do about it. It would take 100s of hours of pre-genning and many Terrabytes of disk space to pregen enough of the many, many dims GTNH adds.
As for the GT machine issue, it's been a long standing bug in GT for years. IIRC the issue comes from the vanilla game attempting to skip ticks to catch up during a lag spike. Sometimes that tick happens to include the GT logic that detects if you broke the machine with the right tool/right tier. Sometimes this will destroy the machine, sometimes this will desync your client and turn the machine purple. Trying to break that again will often either crash you client, server, or just destroy the block. Always relog if a block has the purple broken texture.
