And to own to one's mistakes and to show that recognizing when we are wrong won't make us less, instead it make us a better person. What you guys are about to read, is a conversation between me and Capy about a misunderstanding that i had where i felt targeted. I was not asked to post this, but i was given the green light to do so. And like i mention before, i am doing it for transparency and as a tool to help us grow as people. When IM server was opened my brother and I decided to give it a go. We had to dealt with advance players traveling trough dimensions lagging the server badly, building over 100000 crops on a single forestry exploit and constantly crashing the server and barely anything was done to address the issue. Now this "top" players leave and blame it on "lagg" and we have one of your moderators ping pointing it to us only because we have a mob farm. The spawn rate was reduced to almost 0% and yet the lagg persist. We dont have a huge base filled with 1000 machines running 24/7, yet i find myself on my base watching doors opening, hearing chest opening when i am the only one in the base. Which means an admin is invisible monitoring me. Even last night, after server restarted the second i logged in, i had an admin teleported to me and the first thing it asked me "where is your mob farm?" when he realized i was not at my base and that it was not loaded, then he said "ah, so it was not you"
People build crops in masses or have pigs, cows, sheep on masses for resources, even such admin has a "farm animal farm" for leather and stuffs,. probably hundreds in numbers. Yet i feel targeted and i no longer enjoy playing in your server. Even right now my brother just logged off because we use mob farms for resources, but we havent got any of the resources we get from them because they dont spawn anymore.
Mobs is part of the modpack challenge and the reduction of mob spawning just removed 90% of the survival challenge of the modpack. The mod pack also encourages the creation of mobs farm, which its now useless since no mobs spawn.
In our mob farm mobs die nearly instantly and we keep the chest clear, so we barely have any "items floating" like the admin tried to say.
What is the point of playing a modpack designed for something, when that something gets removed only because advanced players start to lagg servers by building 100000 process that run constantly.
We took our time to light up caves under our base and light up all surrounding areas so the only place mobs used to spawn was on the designated mob farm area, which is not even a big area.
Now we even start to notice that spawners got fkd up too. Meaning that whatever spawner we got for specific resources and game strategy, is no longer viable either. So everything that was done to "reduce lagg" affects only my brother's and my game play mode. But nothing was done to prevent people from making 100000+ crops exploit in a single forestry.
I feel directly targeted only because i am not a end-tier player.
The worst part is that none of the "fixes" helped lagg at all. Server still laggs even when no mobs are spawning, meaning that the source of lagg is something else.
I have played like 5 GTNH servers counting the 3 official ones, lagg was ALWAYS an unsolvable problem, because lagg comes from end-tier players that only log in to activate their chunk loaders and then log out and dont even play the server anymore. We been targeted on every single server only because we take our time to tier up because we want to fully enjoy every aspect of the mod pack. If is not one thing, is another, only because our play style is different from others. Only because we dont rush to end-tiers, hell i havent even seen the moon yet. But guess what? when we leave the server, lagg still persist.
I just see that everything run around end-tier players and low tier players have to suffer the consecuences only because the end-tier player lagg the server and then complain that their process take forever. is like if they want everyone else to stop their game, so they themselves can play even when they know they are the ones that lagg the server.
When one high-end player was exploring the space, lagging the crap out of the server, no one said anything.
My brother was flying in the overword to help a newbie, everyone start to complain and made him stop flying because server was "lagging". How is that some people are allow to play the way they want, while we are being limited? The fact that i had to come here and write you, makes me want to quit the game badly, but sadly there is no other GTNH server that we can start fresh again. One we leave one server we dont return to it. Right now, this is the last GTNH server we have left to play. But if we keep being targeted or "spied" we going to quit for sure. I hate being interrogated like if i did something wrong only because an admin dont understand how we have what we have at the tier we are. Because people are focused on a single way of playing this modpack that they ignored other aspect of it that benefit you at low tiers, like a mob farm for example. A mob farm is as important for us as a forestry is for others, based on out game play style. Since we dont do bees or crops and we barely do Thaum. So, you will understand why this "fix" hinder us alone, directly.
Oh and we also noticed that our chunk loaders are "disabled" when we leave our base, our process dont seems to advance at all when we are not at our base. I dont know why we got pick on, because we dont bother anyone, we barely speak on chat. Because we spend most of our time mining and building.

Atomic seems to be online rn, but they aren't currelty responding to any messages, so they're probably AFK and thus not really online

The mob spawn issue is a bug that we've tried to fix a few times
it's not targeted in any way
unless you think that the server software is targeting you
The only reason that it isn't fixed yet is becuase it's stubborn

It was originally a setting, but when we reversed that setting the reversal doesn't seem to want to take effect
specifically, we turned down spawn rates in bukkit.yml
but turning them back up doesn't help

The next step is to do some experimentation to try to figure out why it doesn't help
I'm not sure if Grog has done that yet, but, presently, I don't have enough time to do so
I have some important and urgent IRL projects that take up most of my time

and monitoring is just suspicion
that isn't being targeted
if you saw chests moving around like that, you probably were being monitored
but if you were never accused of anything that breaks the rules that monitoring would catch, then you were cleared
We can't know before such an investigation if someone is guilty or not

i do know he monitor everyone, but at some point it felt a little personal, like i said, it all might been a missunderstanding from my part
specially because my brother was bother about the spawn rate and convince him to stay playing became harder every day
and when i wrote you i was mad because we depend on many resources drop by random mobs, my brother left that day because we didnt even had strings to craft something
so at that point i was 90% sure that my brother wasnt going to play anymore, so i tried to find a solution writting you

I just spoke with grog about the chests. They were debugging lag and suspected your mob spawner of overflowing.
they wanted to look into it to see how accurate or inaccurate their suspicion was
They said that they wanted to give advice, not warnings
in that case
is that what it was like from your side?

when it comes to chest overflow, i cant tell for sure, because we did our best to keep them clear as much as possible

I've found that the best way to handle overflow is to have it explicitly setup to void extra items
e.g. in old-school buildcraft,a string of insertion pipes into chests, then a void pipe

yes, we preparing a better system in our new base
we were preparing everything to move to a new location, so everything we did in this current base was not fully optimized
but on the new base we will have a system of files and barrers with void upgrade like atomic suggested us
but this is why i felt targeted
because when Teyken was lagging the server, no one said anything to him
and they had a forestry exploit going controlling over 10000 crops in a single forestry
for weeks the server was unpleyable when the end-tier players log in
and we didnt see any fix happening or anything

we had an issue with little-to-no staff coverage for awhile
you probably saw the announcement thoug
it sounds like the issue was that there was no staff coverage for some time
which isn't a case of being targeted

Grog had an idea to do a fix for mob spawns
I just checked it
and I think that it wil be fixed on the next restart
hopefully it won't lag too badlky...

As you guys can see, sometimes things are not as it appear to be and the lack of information can lead us in to the wrong conclusions, specially if we allow our emotions to be the judge. While is impossible to not have emotions, it is possible to try and verify something before you act on that emotion.
But one good thing came out from all this, i got to see that the server is in mature hands. While my actions shower immaturity, the way Capy handle things showed me that he can see past words and focus on the real issue without losing his temper. I can say the same for Atomic to whom i apologized directly for suspecting he was acting against me, when in reality it was all a misunderstanding. He accepted my apology and even asked what he could of done better as part of growing to avoid future misunderstanding. That gest from his part, deserves to be praised. I am happy to see that we are in capable hands.
So if someone someday feels that something is wrong, know that you can talk directly to the moderator and they will help you and explain things. We don't have to be afraid (like i was, that chose to write directly to the owner).
